Some people find guitar chords intimidating, but they shouldn’t. Chords are just a combination of two or more notes together. Believe it or not, you already know how to play a few chords! In this article, you’ll learn how to play some of the most common guitar chords, and I’ll show you the easiest way to play them.

If you’re just starting out on guitar, I recommend learning the basic chords before you move onto chords from the piano. Once you’ve learned a few of these chords, you can move onto learning the chords from the piano. Many guitarists, especially when they’re first learning, will focus on chords and how to play them. But the problem is that all of the chords we’re looking at here are actually chromatic chords, which means that we can play them even when we’re in the key of E (F), as long as we choose the right note for it. In the examples below, the lower octave chord on the top row is F#. As long as you have E or A on the fretboard, you can play the bass notes on the top row, and you’ll get a C chord.
